10 Tips that Spell – P.E.R.F.E.C.T. G.P.A.

Plan a Daily Study Schedule

Successful students always plan a consistent, daily study routine. It is important to create a daily study plan keeping in mind a specific study time for each day of the week. When children study at a specific time each day, their studying becomes a regular part of their life. They are mentally and emotionally prepared to designate that time slot of their day to their study sessions and their assignments become more productive.

Encounter the Most Difficult Assignments First

Starting with the most difficult assignment first makes the study sessions more effective and academically productive. Tackling the most difficult subject first and getting it done gives students a sense of accomplishment for most part of their daily study sessions. Once they get the tough thing out of the way, the rest of the task seems easier to take care of.

Review Class Notes

One of the important aspects of Good Study Habits starts with Reviewing Class Notes. Students should make sure that they take good notes in the classroom in a legible handwriting and also keep the notes organized by the subject. Reviewing those class notes as part of the daily at home study sessions and also before the tests leads to effective studying and achieving good grades.

Paying attention and maintaining focus in the classroom and during study time at home is vital to be a Good Learner. Fortunately, focus and concentration are the skills that can be developed. Some students may be sitting down for hours trying to complete their task but because of the lack of concentration may struggle to do so. One way, students can improve focus is by choosing a study zone that is free from distractions.

Eliminating Distractions

If you are one of the students who get easily distracted by everything that is happening around you during your study time, here are some ways that can help you eliminate distractions. One of the essential factors that help remove distractions is designating a quiet place that should be used for study only. The other sources of distractions such as phone, computers, TV that derail your learning process should be put aside as well.

Consistency is the Key

Slow and Steady Still Wins the Race!! Students who maintain consistency in their study schedule are definitely bound to be successful in their life and career. Those who make it a habit to study everyday get the flexibility of the time to understand concepts that they are learning while those who try to procrastinate their work, try to just cram everything up at the eleventh hour and may get stumbled upon during exam time.

Teacher Consultation

Consulting teachers can be an influential and motivating attribute towards Students’ Success. Instructors can help make a great positive impact on shaping the minds and developing good study habits among the students. Most importantly, teacher consultation can prove to be very beneficial for students who are struggling to achieve their study goals, by developing a comprehensive study plan tailored to their needs.

Goal Oriented Study Sessions

While it is vital to maintain a daily study schedule, it is equally important to make those study sessions productive which can only happen by setting some targeted goals. In order, to achieve those goals it is essential to do a self-evaluation on learning styles, time devotion, focus, organization skills, etc. So, Studying Smarter rather than Harder could be a better option. When setting up goals, follow the S.M.A.R.T. technique (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Timely)

Peer Study Groups Formation

Studying with peers works best for the students who are Social Learners. Creating study groups with peers who are just as dedicated gives the advantage of discussion, debate, quizzing, and role-playing. This also gives an opportunity of asking questions on the study material and measuring how much to study and what to study.

Avoid Summer Brain Drain

Summer is the time to take a break from busy routines of all of the study weeks during the entire school year. Unfortunately though, this leads to a decline in the Study Momentum and creates Summer Learning Loss. However, these situations can be avoided by engaging children in certain educational activities besides just the fun activities. Some of these activities include Reading and Writing camp, Debate camp, STEM camps etc.
